What was the highlight of Sunset Kendwa Beach Hotel

The staff make this place a perfect holiday spot.

The staff were the best part about the hotel. So kind and helpful. Big shout out to Hekima in the restaurant and the pool boy who we called nephew. Breakfast was pretty good but the selection was the same every day other than the pastries that were excellent one day and then the other days were minimal. The beach was nice except that there were a lot of people trying to sell things. They didn't take no for an answer so we ended up staying away from the beach which was disappointing. Our room was a decent size but needed more places to put your things, especially in the bathroom.

1. The wifi was spotty, only working in random places. 2.They allow smoking in the lounge area beside the restaurant which wafts into the restaurant. Yuck! 3. We didn't get the room that we booked on booking.com so when we arrived the first few hours were stressful trying to get closer to what we were supposed to have. It still wasn't the room that we booked but it was ok. 4. The last thing that I really missed was music. It was deadville so we needed to go to other places to find a more lively atmosphere.

Good Location, NOT WELCOMING

We took the deluxe rooms which are located right at the beach. This is the low peak season so hotel was practically empty except for us and 2 other guests. Rooms are clean, beach is amazing with an amazing view of the sunset. Food was also good but pricy.

We took the Half board option but they charged us for part of the meal. We were told that since the guests were few we would have to choose Ala carte but then they said that only $25 per person and we should chose only a starter and main or a main and desert (Meals very expensive on Menu e.g average $12/ dish, soft drinks $4). Kids were not included and we would have to pay for their meals. We tried talking to the supervisor but she said we could take the offer or leave but they won’t refund us if we left. Additionally we asked for some milk for one of the kids and they refused, after some pleading they gave us 200mls and told us we could buy the rest outside. We found the staff very cold, not friendly and welcoming at all.

An idyllic location , but crowded, busy and noisy. Nothing peaceful or tranquil about it.

Excellent stay for affordable price!

The whole staff made our stay memorable! They were really helpful, always happy and smiling. Special thanks to ZENA (floor manager) who always took care of us and accommodated all our needs. Zena and her team went above and beyond in organizing a birthday surprise for us. Steven and Dula from the restaurant were super friendly and always in a good mood which made our days :) Sophia from reception was really helpful and advised us on any questions we had. The best part was the access to the beach, as the hotel is directly connected. The garden view of the palm trees from our room was just magical. We could walk barefoot from our room all the way to the beach as it is all sandy. The sea was most of the days calm with shallow turquoise water, exactly like in the pictures. We were truly impressed by the surroundings and the evening buffet, which happened every Wednesday with live music, dancing, and local food.

Wifi - time to time the wifi didn't work properly, which is totally normal on the island, and we didn't have high expectations anyway. Air Conditioning - during the day the AC went off, but we didn't mind as we didn't spend the day in the room, and the fan was a great back up solution Some insects and lizards sometimes appeared in our room but that's something you can't avoid in this area

Great location on beach with good food and clean environment.

Location on best beach in Zanzibar. Breakfast was great, the manager of restaurant was excellent. Restaurant for dinner was very good with many options. Very clean place.

The service of restaurant was very slow. First day I had to switch room because the shower in the bathroom was not working. If you did not get to your beach chair by 9:00 am there were no chairs available because people take their towels at the end of day and get up early to put it on the chairs early in morning. The staff does not take inventory of who did not return their towels. They should tell the european guest that no smoking in restaurant. I had sent e-mails three times with info to pick us at the airport, they never did. Bathroom had no a/c it was like a sauna.

Acceptable stay, I wish it was better

We reserved 3 deluxe double rooms for 3 nights. Very Beautiful beach views. Rooms were average, beds not so comfortable. I suggest a pitcher \ jar with a little water next to the each villa to clean foot in order to avoid dirtying the room's floor with sand. Breakfast and dinner was so good. No night activities.

The hotel tried to charge us extra fees in addition to booking fee+ local taxes when we asked why?, no answer !then they cancelled the extra fees! I didn’t like the staff at all, beach staff were so rude and need training. And in the restaurant they tried their best to avoid and ignore the guests requests. Thanks

No animation at all! No live music, no dancing, nothing! Boring! At 10 p.m the restaurant was closing The last night they left just 1 towel for 2 people Internet connection is a nightmare. Only works at the reception and restaurant area Food too expensive. 7$ for a soup is a joke. The hotel next to this charges half of their prices.

Very Good

The rooms were spacious and very clean. The staff were happy and friendly and front desk staff helpful with booking airport transfers and day tours. The resort is right on the beach and the water is crystal clear, perfect for swimming. The buffet breakfast was good.

We had full board included, which I wouldn't bother with. Each time we had lunch and dinner we were given different menus and options, sometimes 2 courses were offered other times only 1 course offered. No consistency. However, the food was good.

Good hospitality, good beach, fair menu items

The beach was clean, the food was delicious although not much options available, the waiters are decent, everyone is smiling, front desk were supporting to make our stay comfortable as much as they can, so big thanks for the staff and hospitality

The full board or half board options were actually a la carte with a daily limit per person so it's not a full board actually and u have no much options to choose from so i dont advise selecting it, no internet inside the rooms, very poor connection all over the hotel, electricity went off couple of times,

Lovely resort hotel on the most beautiful beach.

The location is great and the beach / pool area is beautiful. We spent almost every evening in the lounge area watching the sunsets, overlooking the beach. Staff were very friendly and the food was really good. Nassor was amazing and helped organise all our trips and travel. Kendwa is definitely more of a resort hotel area in comparison to Nungwi.

Our room was a little outdated, the hot water broke but was fixed very quickly. Location is good but there aren't many other places to eat in the area so ended up eating in the hotel most nights. The pool table /games area wasn't open.
