What was the highlight of Sunset Kendwa Beach Hotel

Best value for its money on Kendwa if you care for the beach.

If swimming in the ocean is important for you without bothering about the low tides - Kendwa is the best location to choose. The hotel is very simple yet there is some undeniable charm about it - we stayed in the deluxe room with garden view and the feeling that just as you leave the room you step on a sand was amazing. The hotel restaurant was good for Zanzibar - food quality was acceptable. Next to the hotel there is a water sports center where you can arrange various activities.

The facilities are definitely long-time overdue for renovation and some touch for coziness, the breakfast is too scarce and boring, the internet connection is something from the previous century.

Holiday with family

The location of the hotel is the best! Right on the beach, garden with palms, beach bar, restaurant with sea view. Sunbeds and free towels. The beach is stunning. Also staff was very nice and friendly every day. We felt very good. The room had very big terrace.

We were at courtyard PWEZA, courtyard is upgrade, little bit more expensive, but the rooms were old, worn out. Mostly the bathroom was. We had 2 rooms. So in my opion it absolutely did not look as upgrade and something better. Maybe other rooms in other couryards were better. This two in Pweza didnt.

Very Good

My family and I enjoyed all of the above. The hotel is at the beach which made it easy to enjoy the ocean. My daughter and my niece enjoyed the swimming pool the most. The rooms are spacious and clean.

It was nice, but don't expect too much.

Nice beach area and pool.

The Internet was a total joke. It is not acceptable in 2023. Forget about streaming - it was not even possible to download something without the download failing after a few seconds. If you think about a workation - forget about it - you will not get anything done. When the power goes down, the AC will also be down (the backup generator only drives a ventilator). And in December it is really hot there!

The food at the restaurant was good.

I'd requested a single bed but I was given a room with 2 beds, which I had asked them to change but they were fully booked and couldn't change. The wifi connectivity isn't that great in the rooms. Extremely slow.

Good

The food is really good and the reception staff amazing. I was here as a tour operator and could enjoy the property.

The security staff were awful with my friend, who came to visit me. I asked him to pick me up at the pool around midnight as we were supposed to catch up for a business meeting and go to another place together. The security pretended to be the police and bothered him for one hour. This is not acceptable at all and I am very upset about it. It is a shame when the rest of the stay was actually good.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a beach villa which was very spacious and though it was in need of an update, the room and bed were comfortable. The food and drinks were reasonably priced, and the provided breakfast was very adequate. The location is on a gorgeous pristine, clean beach with powder blue sea and, as the name implies, has beautiful sunsets. Lounge beds and towels are provided for guests. We took a snorkelling trip on a dhow organised by a guy just down the beach, and it was a great day.

Great location! The bungalows are right next to the beach which is amazing. And they are quite far from the reception which gives you extra privacy. It doesn't feel like staying in a hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The location at the best beach of Zanzibar is the main reason why I alway like coming back to Sunset or Kendwa Rocks. The chill-out lounge outside with the couches (I think it's quite new) and the bar ar nice. Rooms are spacious and clean, safety box is provided. Fridge didn't seem to work, but wasn't a big deal since I only put water in it. Bed was comfy. I checked out at 10 AM but stayed on the property until evening, so could leave my luggage at reception until my taxi came. Staff offered to organize pick-up by taxi, but I called own of my own contacts as usual since drivers organized through properties are overpriced (for all hotels in Zanzibar btw). Staff was friendly and attentive!

The beds are great, the location is great in regard to the beach and going out, and Sunset security is very good - travelling alone this time, I felt very safe.

The room was good, and the palm garden on a way to the beach is spectecular.
